![]() What a fun snowy day at ACES. We learned all about different animals and where they make their homes in the winter. We got to get up close and personal with other animals too. Check out our pictures to see who those animals might be. A big day out on the town for first graders. Off to OWL night tonight! Come see us perform for you and get cozy at ACES before we head out Owling. Whooo- whooo- who-who-who- whoooo. Today was our first day of Digital Citizenship! Mr. O, ASD's Tech Integrator, came in and taught us all about finding sites we like on the internet. He taught us about links, Symbaloo's and everything we need to know about judging whether a website is good for us. We got to be critics! We all have different opinions on what websites are the best, and it's important to know how to decide. Here are some pictures of us learning this fun new skill. We're loving the 1:1 chrome book action too!
Would you rather be born with an elephant tusk or a giraffe neck? Jump into a pool of marshmallows or jello? Have a pet that's a giant hamster or a tiny rhino? All good questions-right? Well we've set out to find the answers. What would YOU rather? Who says surveys, gathering data and graphing can't be fun? Then the kids came up with their own questions. Would you rather be stuck in a cage with a lion or swim with sharks? Have a popcorn machine or gumball machine? Be born with a dog or cat tail? Makes you think, doesn't it?
Can you believe it? We're 100 days smarter and we sure can tell! Today we celebrated all the hard work with 100 Day Centers, Writing and Math. We even got to see what we would look like when we're 100 years old AND write our own bucket list. First grade is too cool. Browse through some of the fun pictures from our day.
![]() We've been busy learning all about Owls in ACES and in our classroom. You'll be impressed by all we know at Owl Night. We also learned about the importance of planning our writing. Here are some pictures of our fact sheets and the writing process as we create our Owl Teaching stories. Our art work is rather superb as well. We made our own Zentangle hearts. Not familiar with this art form? Click here to read more about it! A little bit about Zentangle:
Almost anyone can use it to create beautiful images. It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being. The Zentangle Method is enjoyed all over this world across a wide range of skills, interests and ages. We're celebrating Valentine's Day with lots of love today. We passed out our valentines and made these compliment hears for our classmates. Everyone went around and left a compliment for each of their peers. Here we are with are hearts and smiles. Oh, and passing out all the candy and treats was pretty fun too.
